Germany is making strides toward its climate goals and a successful energy transition. According to EUPD Research’s GET Matrix, solar PV will shoulder a majority of the electricity production, with a target of 215 GW by the end of the decade. By the end of 2023, Germany installed ~15.23 GW of new solar PV and reached 82.92 GW of cumulative installed capacity. Of the capacity installed in 2023, 35% was installed in the residential (≤20 kW), 50% in the C&I (>20 and ≤5000 kW) and 15% in the utility segment (>5000 kW). By the end of Q3-2024, Germany managed to install ~11.5 GW of new solar PV panels, and EUPD Research estimates that the country will close the year with 14-15 GW of new PV installations.
At the end of November, Solar Solutions Düsseldorf, the exhibition for professionals in renewable energies in North-Rhine Westphalia, took place and brought together the industry for knowledge exchange and connection.
